Industry
Custodianship of client data under contractual security obligations, where a single incident is a client relationship issue.
Sector context
Professional services firms hold their clients' most sensitive material — transaction documents, litigation files, financial records, strategic plans — under contractual obligations rather than sectoral regulation. That changes the governance emphasis: the requirements come from client contracts, they differ between clients, and they are enforced through audit rights rather than supervisory inspection. An incident is a client relationship event before it is a compliance one.
Priorities
Not a generic control list — these are the four issues that come up in almost every engagement in this industry, and the ones a programme has to be designed around.
Requirements differ by client, and tracking them per contract does not scale. Consolidating them into one obligations register mapped to a single control set is what makes them manageable.
Audit rights are exercised with short notice. Evidence has to be retrievable per client and per obligation without a preparation project each time.
Handling rules only work if classification is simple enough to be applied correctly by fee earners under time pressure. Elaborate schemes are consistently misapplied.
Information barriers between engagement teams are a control with real consequence, and one that has to be evidenced rather than assumed.
Regulatory landscape
What each one requires in practice, and how they relate to each other. Where several apply, they are implemented as one control set rather than as parallel programmes.
These are frameworks and regimes we work to on behalf of clients. They are not certifications or approvals held by Dabster Group.
